Summer Mission Trip

summer mission trip

A week long commitment to be God's hands and face in service to the poor, elderly and marginalized.

Mission Trip 2020 and 2021....

Due to Covid-19 rules and regulations, we are unable to sponsor overnight events at this time. Stay tuned, however, for a local option to help those in need, to be offered during the summer of 2021.

The History of our Mission Trips

In 1998, St. Edna Youth Ministry paired with the organization Catholic Heart Work Camp (http://heartworkcamp.com/) to offer a service experience for the teens of our Parish. Since then this summer trip has become an important annual event in our Youth Ministry. From our start, with 12 teens and 2 adults, we have grown to 50 teens and 10 adults for this summer's camp. In all St. Edna Parish has had an estimated 525 campers and 100 adults being Stewards of our Faith, working to help people maintain their dignity, and their homes. Camp in 2019 will be St. Edna's 21st year of partnering with CHWC for our week of service.

What do we do at Camp?

We join people from other Catholic Parishes (usually 300 people at a Camp) and paint, plant, weed, sort, clean, serve, and do repairs in homes, shelters, daycare centers, playgrounds, Churches, outreach centers, and anywhere else we are sent. (Local social service agencies pre-select our clients.)

Where is Camp this year?

We are hoping to offer a local, daily option for service to those in need this summer. Stay tuned for details.
