Altar Servers at St. Edna help the gathered community at worship during parish liturgies by assisting the presider and deacon at the altar.

Open to those entering 4th Grade or older this fall. If you are interested in becoming an Altar Server, please stop by the Parish Office to pick up a registration packet.

Formation

Starting at 4th Grade through College all the youth of our parish can participate in this ministry. They will attend one inital training session and occassional training throughout the year.

Expectations

Servers are scheduled to serve one to two liturgies a month. This is accomplished through our on-line liturgical scheduler program, Minstry Scheduler Pro, by their parents. Servers are expected to arrive at church at least 20 minutes before the liturgy starts. During the liturgy, some of their roles included carrying candles, holding the sacramentary for the presider, and assisting during the Rite of Preparation. Experienced servers may be invited and trained to serve at weddings throughout the year.
